Author Lucia Ashta

As a baby, Lucía was found alone in a bassinet in an ancient forest and soon after adopted by fairies. As these fairies were diminutive (in size only), she rapidly outgrew their home. They took her to live in a colony of dragons and pandacorns, nestled between faraway, snow-capped mountains.

When the mystery of her existence beckoned, Lucía set off to discover who she really is and where she hails from. Years later, and she is still searching for answers. Unsuited to civilized society that largely denies that magic is real, she enhances her days by bringing to life, both with pen and brush, fantastical creatures and worlds. She leaves the challenge of determining what is real and what is not to the readers of her books and viewers of her art.

At night she can often be found reading with a kitty curled on her lap or enveloped in the arms of her beloved, listening for the calls of dragons who have come to visit her forest-mountain cabin. Its entrance proclaims: Friendly magical creatures welcome here.

A note from Lucía

I’ve always been a writer. I published a short story about an unusual cockatoo when I was eight. That was the first of many stories, poetic anthologies, and novels to follow. I never stopped writing, though I went through a long phase where I believed I needed to be a “responsible adult” and that writing didn’t meet that standard. I’m so glad I got over that, although it took me a career in architecture and law to do it.

What finally led me to choose writing as my full-time career are my three daughters. I wanted to show them it’s possible to follow your joy, helping and inspiring others along the way. I wanted them to see that the impossible is possible. I wanted them to avoid the path of uncertainty and doubt that I’d previously chosen. When we follow our hearts and do what we’re passionate about, we blossom.

I was writing and illustrating empowering children’s books when I just knew I had to write novels. I’m grateful I listened because it’s been an incredible journey since. Your feedback on how my books have helped transform your lives inspire me to write many more of them.

It’s my greatest hope that my work will make your life more magical. I wish that we may all learn how to make our own version of the impossible possible.

I live with my family in North Carolina’s Great Smoky Mountains, where I’m currently working on several new book projects.

Thanks for your continued support! I wouldn’t be where I am now without it.
